The human race is attracted to the ‘simpler things in life’.
A cold beverage with a friend, a good book or maybe a kick of the footy down the beach. When situations look too crowded, or require too much planning or just purely look like too much work, we can easily turn away. In our busy lives, we tend to embrace and be attracted to ‘simplicity’ .
Now looking at this from a website point of view – I’m a firm believer that the same principles apply.
Users are more likely to engage and connect with a site when the interface is simple.
How do your clients or customers feel when they land on your website?
Is there:
- A clean message with a straight forward ‘call-to-action’
- Relevant information that is easy to find
- A beautifully balanced composition of elements
Look at your site from the perspective of your clients or customers and be honest with your evaluation. Is your site overcrowded and busy, is there clear messaging and can people make contact with you easily. All these factors (and more) play such a crucial role in the engagement level on your website.
It can also be a great idea to get someone to do a site review – a fresh set of eyes to look over your website and provide feedback on the interface and user experience on your site.
