We know we need to be there – but where the frig do we begin!
For a small business starting out in digital marketing it can be a daunting task! What social networks should we use, what website platform is best, how do I build an email list ... the questions just keep rolling on.
First off, we all feel like that – especially because the digital world evolves and changes quicker than any other part of the business world.
But one thing is blindingly clear - you just gotta be there.

So I have put together a couple of quick ideas to get the pathway a little clearer.
No. 1 - Build a website around solving your clients problems and providing valuable content (oh, and make it easy for people to contact you!). Make sure you also capture email addresses of visitors by giving away free eBooks, checklists or whitepapers. Our platform of choice for web design is WordPress – it is quick, clean and easy to use.
No. 2 - Start with just one social platform - do this by defining your audience (perfect clients) and work out where they hang out. One social platform that I found to be ultra engaging across a range of business areas is Instagram. Sign up today and go for it.
No. 3 - Email marketing is still a big player in marketing your business. Start by gathering all your clients or customers names and email addresses and grab an account with either MailChimp or Campaign Monitor and get sending. These systems are easy to use and you can have a free account. Send 'value driven' emails to your database about industry trends, latest news and helpful tips.
I could go on and on, but I think to begin with these are some little actions you can take to get going in this digital marketing world. Just start today!
